Working Happy Hour Swedish Style
I decided to go to work at Genesis today because I felt bad I haven’t worked there in a while. Kenny wanted to go out to ICM mall and to the Hinandago Cave on Panglao. I was happy that he wanted to explore a little of Bohol because I didn’t want him to be bored sitting around Alona Beach with me when I had to work.
There wasn’t much going on at Genesis so I walked over to Coco Vida to go into the Internet. Genesis has Internet but it’s not wireless, and whenever I use the line inside I always get bit by mosquitoes. At Coco Vida, I called my friend Chie in Los Angeles via Skype. My call was completely unexpected and she for a while didn’t believe it was me. I love hearing my friend’s reaction when they realize it’s me. It was good talking to Chie and catching up on things. It’s good to hear she is doing well.
I went back to Genesis to see if there was anything to do. The whole staff was trying to push one of their boats onto the beach in order to drain it of water. I helped out but I’m not sure how much I really helped. Eventually, we did get the boat on the beach. This was the hardest I worked today.
Hanging around Genesis with Sander, I meet two Swedish girls who are staying and diving with Genesis—Veronica and Susan. They’re nice to talk with and very friendly. Sander, Veronica, Susan and I went to Oops bar for a little happy hour and dinner.
Later in the night Veronica, Susan, Kenny and I migrate to the bar at Oops and order a few rum and Cokes. After drinking through two different happy hours, we get to a point where we start throwing peanuts at each other and each other’s drinks. Then, for some reason unknown to man, I asked the bartender for a permanent marker. Everyone started writing random, and sometimes obscene, phrases on each other—“I love Ikea”, “I’m drunk”, “Dive deeper”, etc. Ah, good times.
Kenny drove home.
