Friends from Boracay to Bohol

People play on White Beach.

Today I left Boracay to go to back home to Bohol. This basically required me to take a domestic flight to Cebu and then a fast ferry to Tagbilaran, Bohol. Originally, I was planning on working at a newly created visual effects company in Cebu for a few weeks before going back home to Bohol. They said that they didn’t need my help anymore so now I had to go back to Bohol.

Kenny leaves for Manila.

Packed up and ready to go. A last check before I leave my resort room.

Kenny left before me to go to Manila and then to eventually go to China. I left the resort I was staying at, La Isla Bonita by 9:30 AM. It was raining hard and I had to time my leave when there was less rain. To get to the airport, I had to take a tricycle to the dock, a banca to the main island, and then another tricycle to the airport.

I checked in at the airport to learn that my 11:20 AM flight was delayed until 1:20 PM. The airline provided a separate lounge area to stay in while I waited for the flight. The lounge was a small clean air conditioned room with a lot of chairs and a few tables. I sat at a table where I met an Australian and his girlfriend Teresa, Canadians Charles and Lucy, and Don a local from Boracay going to Cebu for a job interview.

I first chatted with Teresa’s boyfriend who met Teresa on an online dating website. Teresa was a friendly, energetic girl who lives in Cebu. They were in Boracay for vacation and now the boyfriend is going back to Australia for work and Teresa is going back home to Cebu. Teresa was going out to some clubs in Cebu tonight and wanted me to go with her. It was tempting, but I planned on going back to Bohol to see my American friend Suzette.

Sitting next to me, I also met Charles and Lucy who were really cool. They were also in Boracay for vacation and were planning on going to Cebu for a little bit and then to Bohol. I gave them some advice on where to stay and what to do in Bohol. I even told them that if they were interested in diving, I can do an introductory dive with them. I told them I was working at Genesis Divers and for them to look me up when they get to Alona Beach.

Our flight was delayed until 2 PM. Coincidentally, on the flight, I sat within a row of Don, Charles, Lucy and Teresa. Don sat one row up next to Teresa while Lucy and Charles sat in the same row as me. How odd is that in a plane that holds a couple hundred people? From the airport in Cebu to the pier, I managed to hire a really annoying taxi cab driver. Even though I made sure he used his meter only for the taxi rate, he insisted I pay him more because gas is expensive.

I got to the pier around 4 PM and the only available ferry ride to Bohol was at 6:20 PM. The port had a big lounge area with a lot of seats so I just sat around and waited. I ate dinner at a small little eatery which was okay. The ferry ride was slightly miserable. It was crowded, seats were cramped, and it was freezing cold. I couldn’t sleep and so had to resort to watching Zohan, a really corny movie.

My friend Suzette from Los Angeles and I at Oops bar.

From the pier in Bohol, I took a tricycle for 40 minutes to Alona Beach where I met up with Suzette and Mike. I didn’t recognize Mike at first until Suzette reminded me that he used to work with me. We met up at Oops bar which was having their disco night. We had lots of fun and even afterwards we walked to Trendies to hang out even more.
