I’m surprised by how many friends from Los Angeles want to visit me out here in the Philippines; it’s really cool actually. Today, my friends Eric and Vilma from Los Angeles were scheduled to fly in and arrive at Alona Beach by around 9:30 AM. Kenny and I decided to wait for them at Coco Vida. By 10 AM, Eric and Vilma arrived and everyone was happy.
It was good to see Eric and Vilma. I haven’t seen or talked with them since a few days before I left for the Philippines in February. They were up for about 24 hours since they left their house and were tired and hungry. We decided to eat breakfast at Hayahay where we mostly ate their Filipino breakfast. After breakfast I helped them look for a place to stay by walking up and down the beach. After going to a few resorts, they settled on a place off the beach.
Kenny and I agreed to meet back up with them by dinner time while they cleaned up and got some rest. We ate dinner at Pyramid grill on the beach which was nice. We had lots of fresh grilled fish. Afterwards we went to Oops bar, got a table and had some happy hour rum and Cokes. We saw Sander, Veronica, and Susan eating there and they joined our table after they ate dinner.
Sander demonstrates the very Filipino raise your shirt expose your belly to cool yourself technique.
After several rum and Sprites, someone started throwing peanuts at each other again. Eventually, we goofed around so much, Lori, a waitress at Oops, told me to “behave.” Fun times at Oops bar. By midnight, we left and went home.
