My usual breakfast of Australian oatmeal and instant coffee.
I woke up at 8 AM and had a relaxing morning. I ate breakfast for the first time in a long time at my home—oatmeal and coffee with the relaxing tunes of Astrud Gilberto, Sarah Mclachlan, and Fiona Apple. Did much needed laundry. I decided to waste time, and watch TV—wasting time never felt so good. It felt great to unwind and not worry about anything really. The chains of the IDC are lifted and I’m free to breath.
Laundry day. Much needed.
After getting bored of my overly stuffy room, I went to El Galleon bar to hang out and go on the Internet. For lunch, I ate their chop suey which was great. It seemed simple enough to make and not screw up so I decided to look into making chop suey. For most of the afternoon, I tried to catch up on my severely out of date journal.
For some reason, I felt like getting some new chill music like what I listened to in the morning. Many months ago while browsing on the iTunes store, I saw a name I’ve seen before in the “Top Albums” section—Sara Bareilles. I thought to myself, no way, it can’t be. Looking at her picture on her album confirmed my suspicions.
Sara Bareilles new album "Little Voice".
In the fall of 2003, I met a waitress at the Library Alehouse restaurant in Santa Monica that I frequented. I thought she was attractive and so we got into your standard small talk (where you from, etc). She told me her name was Sara Bareilles, she was a singer, and invited my friend and I to her show at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica.
We went to the show and I was so impressed by her music I actually bought her album “The Summer Sessions”. After listening to the album though I was disappointed in the audio quality of it so didn’t listen to much of it. Recently though, I listened to it and was quite happy listening to it.
Back to now. So, in the afternoon I decided to treat myself and download her latest album “Little Voice”. The album is nice and the songs have gotten a lot more complex and mature. Some of them seem a little too overly produced.
In the evening, I went to Mermaid Dive Resort where Caroline and Dave dive out of. Caroline was there so I hung out with her for a little bit. I then walked to the local market to get my ingredients so I can try making chop suey. After putting my food away in my refrigerator, I met up with Greg who said he knew where to get some good Thai food for dinner.
Greg and I walked to the far end of Big Lalaguna Beach where we ate Thai food at a small bar called Fat Bastard. The food was good, relatively cheap, and the view was really nice. Afterwards, we dropped by La Laguna Beach Club to shoot some pool and have a round of drinks. There I met at the bar a drunk dive instructor with sweaty hands that liked to shake hands. After just one game of pool, I went home and slept.
