My shot of the moray eel.

In the morning, Sara, Martine and I made instant coffee which they said tasted better than their coffee. Really? We drove to Genesis Divers at 8 AM because Sara and I were going to dive. It’s been about a month since I last dived and so had to get my gear out of storage at Genesis. It turns out that my 1st stage regulator yoke screw was corroded so much I couldn’t attach it to the tank. Luer helped me out by replacing it with another brands.

I dived at Kalipayan with Luer, two Swiss guys, and two Filipinos. Sara couldn’t dive because she was slightly congested. It was a good sized group for just a local house reef dive. After a month of not diving, there was slight awkwardness getting into the water, but it was never an issue. The dive itself was great and I’m happy with the pictures I got. I saw a moray eel, scorpionfish, and a nudibranch eating a sea squirt.

Luer's head becomes much smaller once he gets out of the water.

After the dive, I hung out around Genesis and just relaxed on the beach. I researched the corrosion issue with my regulator and found out it is a common problem with that model which has to do with the type of metal Scubapro uses to make it weigh less. This coupled with being in a warm humid salty environment. If I knew about this before, it wouldn’t be worth the few ounces of weight saved.

For dinner, Sara, Martine, and a diver I just met Joanna ate at the local Pyramid Grill. I usually get the grilled pork chop but this time I tried the Bam-i dish -- thin, clear Chinese style noodles with sauteed pork and vegetables. The dish was tasty and enough to feed two people. I had to share with Sara and Martine.

Sara and Martine enjoy themselves at Oops disco.

After dinner, Sara and Martine and I went to Oops bar to hang out and wait for disco night to start. Disco night was fun. Sander came by as well as a large group of Dutch people. I met Marcus, the manager at Seaquest Dive resort, who is a very nice guy. The girl-to-guy ratio was high but there weren’t that many interesting ones. Lots of dancing throughout the night and there was even a guy with a mohawk doing some breakdancing. Definitely a fun night at the Oops bar.
